Dr. Ellen Purser was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. She started college at the age of 16 and graduated, cum laude, from Chico State College with degrees in recreational therapy and psychology. For the next seven years she worked for the State of California mental health services as a social worker in the rural northern California coastal area.
In the early 80’s Dr. Purser started working in the health food industry, first for Padma Marketing, then as the executive director for the Association for the Promotion of Herbal Healing. During this period she also studied Chinese herbal medicine with Dr. Subhuti Dharmananda. After attending the Nyingma Buddhist Institutes in Tucson, AZ and Berkeley, she spent two years traveling in India, Nepal and Southeast Asia.
Upon her return to the States she completed pre-med requirements and was accepted to Western States Chiropractic College and completed the four-year program in three years, graduating in 1990 as a co-salutorian summa cum laude with the Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
In 1991 Dr. Purser started her Chiropractic practices in both Ennis and Bozeman and, after her marriage to Dr. Michael Jones they began the Bridger Chiropractic Clinic. Since that time she has continued to pursue many areas of interest within the Chiropractic realm and has attended numerous seminars throughout the United States keeping current with this ever advancing field.
Following an automobile accident in 2006 she was unable to work as a chiropractor for almost five years as she recovered from her injuries. Because of extensive damage to her wrist and shoulder she is unable to perform the traditional chiropractic adjustments.
However, because of her love of chiropractic, and helping people heal, she found two techniques that allowed her to return to the clinic. One is the PulStar (or ProAdjuster); a low-force, but totally effective methods of adjusting which is rapidly becoming quite popular with her patients. The other is Nutrition Response Testing which is providing some very exciting results. Plus, she has also studied with Dr. George Gonzalez and has earned the title of Quantum Neurology Certified Practitioner.
Dr. Purser’s relationship with Nutrition Response Testing is very strong. About 2 ½ years after her car accident, following her seventh surgery, her body was so depleted that she simply lost her health. She had gone from being a healthy and active woman to being a person plagued by chronic kidney infections kept alive only by increasingly stronger doses of antibiotics.
In the fall of 2010 a friend and fellow chiropractor invited her to attend a seminar on NRT in Denver. She was so excited by what she learned that, rather than returning to Bozeman, she flew to Clearwater, Florida to begin her studies on the subject. From that moment on she never had to take another antibiotic and has been reclaiming her health ever since. With this history she feels very strongly about the healing opportunities available to her patients and is driven to continue to learn and grow in the subject.
